Book Review/ /Heartless, Marissa Meyer

"A heart, once stolen, can never be taken back.” Summary: Heartless begins with hopes and dreams of young Catherine Pinkerton, a citizen of the land of Hearts. Her passion for baking sweet delicacies opposes her parents' dream of her becoming Queen. Lady Catherine distastes the idea of accepting the King's proposal. Mainly because of her bakery ambition that was conjured up ever since she realized the generational family trait of storytelling was not passed down to her. One other thing that throws Catherine's decision through a loop is the new Royal Court Joker. Something beguiling about him and his hidden identity entices Catherine to want to find out. And finding out the mystery may cost her very own heart in the end. In the land of Wonderland, everything is magical and surreal. Mysterious and confusing, but amazingly adventurous.  Thoughts: Marissa Meyer is an outstanding author. Every single book I have ever read from her amazes me. This was no exce

Last year, my youth group and I traveled to North Eastern Indiana to help out with other churches partnered with our church's association. While we were on the mission trip our comfort zones became almost non-existent. This year, however, we were a little familiar with our surroundings, but there were still scenarios that were unexpected, and a bit surprising.  Heading north, our group had no clear  mission work  schedule, we were literally going up to help out wherever was needed. That's no easy thing to do, at least for me it isn't. I like things planned out, listed and crossed to the 't'. Which made me step back and realize that is one of my faults. I like to be in charge of everything around me. I like to be the boss sometimes, or all the time... However, in God's word, it tells us to be quite the opposite.  "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up."  ( James 4:10 ) There are multiple verses about

"There was still beauty in the world. And it was worth fighting for." Summary:  Yael has known nothing but suffering. Ever since Hitler stripped her of her life and threw her loved ones away as if they had no value, she sides with the resistance and learns more than who she truly is. The desire for Adolf's Youth is great and if you don't meet the qualifying appearance, then you have no right to live, according to the tyrannical ruler. Willing to test an experiment, Doctor Geyer runs several  diagnostics testing his theory on recreating skin pigmentation, along with the melanin that gives your precise shade. After several deficit subjects, Yael is the only one that it seems to show development with. Eventually, her own mother doesn't recognize her. The prisoners stay away from her because she resembles everything that the enemy is. A 'monster,' they call her. Yael discovers, through the new names and characteristics that she can skin-shift. She is a

Independence Day 2017

This year my sister and I wanted to do a little something different with our festive nails. Instead of the iconic firework based nail art, we decided to use red-white-and-blue themed floral designs. I think it turned out adorable! Plus you can even work the look after the 4th of July! I couldn't exclude a new hairstyle! I'm calling this one the messiest, twisted updo ever. My sister requested something out of her face and off her shoulders, so I did just that.  "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." ( II Corinthians 3:17 ) I hope you and your family/friends have a blessed Independence Day! ♡ Anna

Hair Tutorial/ /Double Dutch Infinity braid

One of the things I love most is trying out new trends and expanding my knowledge of braids. I came across several different looks with this iconic 'infinity braid' and I was eager to try it! Here's the video that helped me the most.   You can either complete the braid by doing a simple pony at the nape of your neck or finish it with a braid of your choice. I decided to blend it in by using a fishtail technique.  Hope you like it! ♡ Anna
